Amid severe shortages of jabs in their own countries, many citizens in the Balkan region are going to Serbia for vaccination against the coronavirus, taking advantage of the speed and ease of access to vaccination there.

Some of them told told BIRN that they needed nothing more than a passport.

"The vaccination site at St. Joanna - ISUL University Hospital will be open from today between 14-17 hours and on March 27th and 28th March 2021 from 8:30 to 16.30. The available vaccine is AstraZeneca. No advance appointment is required," the hospital's  press office reported.

Ljubljana – The national coordinator of vaccination logistics, Jelko Kacin, says it is realistic to expect that 70% of Slovenia’s population, or all adult residents, would be vaccinated by the summer, as the country expects to receive more than 250,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine by the end of June.

The National Committee for Vaccination against COVID-19 (CNCAV) informs that, in the past 24 hours, 59,108 persons received vaccination doses, out of which 46,802 Pfizer BioNTech, 4,322 Moderna and 7,984 AstraZeneca, according to data released by the National Public Health Institute (INSP) through the National Electronic Vaccination Registry.

AstraZeneca has said it is standing by its coronavirus vaccine after a U.S. agency raised concerns about trial results that showed the shot to be highly effective in preventing COVID-19.
