Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Jan. 31 held a phone conversation with his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas, according to the Turkish communications directorate.

Erdoğan and Abbas talked about the latest developments and regional issues.

Turkey's parliament has condemned the U.S. peace plan for the Middle East, saying it is against U.N. resolutions and a two-state solution framework.

All five political parties of parliament signed a joint declaration on Jan. 29, condemning the peace plan while vowing to "stand by" Palestinians.

Any demarche, which is aimed at solving the Israeli - Palestinian conflict, to the both sides' benefit and which gives a thrust to the pace process in the Middle East, must be saluted, Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu said on Wednesday. He spoke of the peace plan for the Middle East presented by US President Donald Trump.

Turkey dismissed U.S. President Donald Trump's Middle East plan on Jan. 28 as an attempt to steal Palestinian lands and kill off prospects of establishing a Palestinian state alongside Israel.

Palestine's leadership vowed on Jan. 23 not to recognize any Middle East peace plan it had previously rejected, warning the U.S. and Israel against announcing such a deal.

Turkey's Foreign Ministry on Jan. 8 criticized Israel for its decision on building houses in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The Hamas resistance group called on the Palestinian administration Jan. 1 to work together with it and other groups against Israel's decision to withhold millions of dollars in tax funds from Palestinians.

In a statement, Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said the decision once again proves the "piracy of Israel."

The Israeli Security Cabinet on Dec. 29 voted to withhold $43 million of tax funds from the Palestinians, saying the money has been used to promote violence, Israeli media reported.

The sum represents funds that Israel says the Palestinians have used to pay the families of Palestinians who have been jailed or killed as a result of attacking Israel, according to various reports.

Turkey on Dec. 21 welcomed the International Criminal Court's (ICC) probe into alleged war crimes committed in Palestine.

Turkey's foreign minister on Sept. 15 vowed to defend the just cause of Palestinians till the end.
