Bulgarian tobacco growers have blocked the main road near Svilengrad in protest against the low prices and the delayed purchase campaign.
Saric pleads not guilty
BELGRADE - The most wanted drug lord from the Balkans, Darko Saric, appeared for the first time before the Special Court in Belgrade on Monday and denied that he, together with members of his ring, organized the trafficking of a total of 5.7 tons of cocaine from Latin America to Western Europe.
Darko Saric was arrested in a joint police operation of Serbia and Montenegro on March 18.

Ingenious drugs cache discovered at Athens airport
Narcotics officers at Athens International Airport on Friday arrested a 39-year-old Nigerian national after discovering an ingenious cache of drugs.
According to a police report, the 39-year-old, who had arrived at the Greek capital via Cairo, had concealed 1.74 kilogram of cocaine inside the metallic tubes that comprised the handle of his rolling suitcase.

New Cocaine Route Passes Through Bulgaria
A new cocaine route for Europe goes through Bulgaria said the National Addictions and Drugs Center.
According to its director Momchil Vasilev, in the past two years through Bulgaria was established a new drug channel, which takes cocaine from South America via Western Africa through Greece and Bulgaria, for Western Europe.

Trial liberalization of over-the-counter medicines
There will be a trial liberalization of prices for over-the-counter medicines and if it is successful, the drugs will not have to be sold in any stores other than pharmacies, Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis said on Thursday.

Greek prosecutor charges 6 with fraud over IKA scam
An Athens prosecutor on Tuesday brought fraud charges against a doctor working for the Social Security Foundation (IKA), four pharmacists and the representative of an unnamed pharmaceutical firm who are alleged to have caused IKA to suffer losses of more than 100,000 by forging prescriptions for expensive medicines.

BELGRADE - The Special Court in Belgrade decided on Tuesday to place drug lord Darko Saric in custody for 60 days, stating that the reasons for the order from December 9, 2010, to place him in custory were still valid.

Ecstasy dealers nabbed in Athens
Six people were arrested in various parts of Attica on Tuesday on suspicion of being part of a gang that dealt ecstasy tablets.
The arrests were made during a coordinated police operation that led to small amounts of ecstasy and amphetamines being found.
