Sports Digest: Greek women fourth in Eurobasket
BASKETBALL: The Greek women's team finished fourth in the 2017 Eurobasket in the Czech Republic as it lost to France 77-55 in Saturday's semifinal and 78-45 to Belgium in the third-place game on Sunday. Greece ended up fourth for the first time ever and made it to next summer's World Championship in Spain.

Elliniko still not out of the woods
The 37,000 square meters characterized as "forest" by the Piraeus Forestry Authority may turn out to be the Achilles' heel of the 8-billion-euro investment in the development of the old Athens airport plot at Elliniko, according to the chairman of contractor Lamda Development, Anastasios Giannitsis.

Shanghai teams up with Piraeus to boost container traffic
Piraeus Port (OLP), operator of Greece's biggest port and majority-owned by China's Cosco Shipping, has agreed to team up with the operator of Shanghai port, the world's largest container port, to promote container shipping traffic.
Doctors on strike to demand hiring more staff at hospitals
State hospital doctors in Athens and Piraeus are due to stage a walkout Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the end of the day to protest layoffs and demand mass hirings.
A rally is to take place at noon outside the Health Ministry.
Cosco and OLP to sign deals with Shanghai
Two Chinese officials will be in Piraeus on Monday to sign a cooperation memorandum between Piraeus Port Authority (OLP), its owner Cosco, and the port of Shanghai, concerning the increase in incoming cargo from China to Europe.
The deal will be signed by China Cosco Shipping Corporation Limited head Xu Lirong and the Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) chairman Chen Xuyuan.

Piraeus Bank to sell assets, tackle NPLs
Piraeus Bank, Greece's largest lender by assets, aims to sell its Balkan businesses and certain other holdings and shrink its bad loans portfolio, its new chief executive told reporters on Wednesday, outlining the group's plans up to 2020.
"Our vision is to be the most credible bank in Greece," said CEO Christos Megalou, who took over in April.

Piraeus Bank, Greece's largest bank by assets, aims to sell its Balkan businesses and certain other holdings and shrink its bad loans portfolio, its new chief executive told reporters on Wednesday, outlining the group's plans up to 2020.
"Our vision is to be the most credible bank in Greece," said CEO Christos Megalou, who took over in April.
