Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu on July 9 called on the rector of Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ) to hear out the students protesting the cutting down of trees for the construction of a dormitory on campus.

The coming weeks will naturally see an emphasis on New Democracy's proposals on all the major issues, from the economy and security, to education and health. At the same time the new prime minister will have to strike a balance between the rival forces within his party's ranks, combining the new with the old.

Secretary general of the PSD (Social Democratic Party) Mihai Fifor on Monday evening told the RTV private broadcaster that the PSD Congress to establish this party's candidate for the presidential elections will be held on August 3.

Rating agencies pointed to a positive outlook after New Democracy's victory in Sunday's election.

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) spokesperson Faik Öztrak on July 8 slammed the removal of Central Bank chief, Murat Çetinkaya from his post by a presidential decree, saying his removal will lead to major problems in the long-run.

Stelios Petsas, previously the director of newly sworn in Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' office, has been appointed government spokesman, state-run news agency ANA-MPA reported on Monday.
Petsas will announce the members of New Democracy's cabinet at 7 p.m., according to the report.

When asked whether he will step down prior to opposition getting closer to him and when something like this will happen, Serbian President responded: "This would mean that I could pursue political career for another ten years, without them getting closer, but I do not intend to do that, it will happen much sooner".

Center-right New Democracy surged to a decisive victory in general elections on Sunday, paving the way for leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis to form a comfortable majority government this week.
