Sweden’s NATO bid not possible at Vilnius Summit

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has made clear once again that NATO-aspirant Sweden has to take concrete steps to join the alliance and stop the activities of the terrorists in the streets of Stockholm, underlining that the Nordic country will unlikely be admitted to NATO at the alliance's key summit in Vilnius in July.

Erdoğan to embark on 1st foreign visits to Turkish Cyprus, Azerbaijan

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is set to embark on his first foreign visits following his reelection in the May 28 polls to Turkish Cyprus and Azerbaijan, in a bid to discuss bilateral ties and steps to improve cooperation.

In his first visit on June 12, Erdoğan will meet with Turkish Cypriot President Ersin Tatar and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel.

Biden congratulates Erdoğan on renewing his tenure

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a phone call with his U.S. counterpart, Joe Biden, late on May 29 after renewing his tenure in the runoff election.

Biden congratulated Erdoğan on his reelection. Biden expressed the hope that the Turkish people would benefit from the election win, said a statement by the Turkish Presidency's Directorate of Communications.

Erdoğan says he is confident of getting more support in May 28 polls

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has expressed on May 16 that he is confident of having more votes in the presidential runoff on May 28.

"May 28 will be very, very different. This will be a signal. I think we will wake up on May 29 very differently. I believe we will get a lot of votes," Erdoğan said in a televised interview with CNN Turk and Kanal D.

Elections are democracy celebration for our future: Erdoğan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on May 13 that he views the elections as a "democracy celebration for our country's future," in his election message. 

Meanwhile, Erdoğan on May 12 defended Russia's Vladimir Putin from allegations of meddling in Turkey's crucial weekend election.
