Bulgaria's Parliament on March 13 voted to approve changes to the Penal Code and the law on health, which will be promulgated in the State Gazette tomorrow.

The aim of the changes is to stop the spread of infectious diseases including the new Covid-19 coronavirus.

The Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Friday evening four new cases of novel coronavirus infection, thus, the total number of infections has reached 86. According to the quoted source, the persons in question are a 32-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman, both of them from Timisoara, who came from Italy on 12 March.

A 26-year-old man from Prahova County, who was placed in quarantine in Busteni, is the 80th case of novel coronavirus infection in Romania, the Strategic Communication Group announced on Friday. The man returned on 12 March from Italy and entered quarantine the same day. He tested positive for COVID-19 at the "Matei Bals" Hospital.

As many as 2,298 people in Romania are in institutional quarantine, and 13,723 in isolation at home, according to the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) task force. "In Romania, there are 2,298 persons in institutional quarantine undergoing testing to detect if they have contracted the Sars-CoV-2 (coronavirus) virus.

Other three cases of infection with the novel coronavirus have been confirmed in Romania on Friday, namely three women from Timis County, the Strategic Communication Group announced. Two of the women who tested positive were placed in quarantine in Timisoara. According to the quoted source, the women are 40, 50 and 33 years old.

Turkish Minister of National Health Fahrettin Koca says a second case of the new type of coronavirus infection has been registered in the republic.

"The tests were carried out last night and unfortunately the fears have been confirmed. We have another case of coronavirus," he wrote on Twitter.

Although the number of cases is small compared with other countries, the outgoing government of Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini, who has doubled as health minister for the past few months, has introduced widespread prevention measures.
