Quorum

At a joint meeting on Thursday, the standing bureaus of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies appointed Ramona Saseanu as interim head of Romania's National Television Broadcasting Corporation (SRTv) and Liviu Popescu as interim head of the Romanian National Radio Broadcasting Corporation (SRR) for 60 days each.

Two days before it was scheduled to start, North Macedonia's governing and opposition parties have agreed to postpone the long-awaited census for five months so that census takers and the wider population can get vaccinated first.

The reason for that, as he states, is the open issue of quorum at the session at which those laws were adopted, as well as the legal issue of the mandate of the two deputies.

All the Save Romania Union (USR) senators and deputies are present in the plenary hall and will vote for the investiture of the Government proposed by Ludovic Orban, USR deputy and chairman Dan Barna announced on Monday, prior to the beginning of the joint plenary meeting of Parliament.

Falling short of a quorum, Iraq's Parliament failed to meet on Oct. 26 to discuss the demands of protests that have been rocking the country. 

Bulgaria's Parliament failed to sit on October 11 due to lack of quorum. Parliament made two succesive attempts to secure quorum. Of the 121 MPs required, 106 registered in the plenary hall. 112 MPs registered during a second attempt to achieve quorum, BNT reported.

Parliament suspends sittings between October 16 and 25 because of the local elections.

The deputies are expected to vote on the proposed changes to the Electoral Code for dropping the machine voting in local and parliamentary elections. Last week, one vote didn't reach for the governors to obtain a quorum.
