Rain

It will be mostly sunny today, with occasional cloudy skies in western Bulgaria but no rain expected. Light to moderate east-northeast wind, becoming north-west in the evening in the north-west areas. Maximum temperatures between 30C and 35C, in Sofia - about 30C. 
Atmospheric pressure will remain slightly lower than the September average.

We can expect relatively warm autumn, with normal rainfall for the season, climatologist Assoc. Prof. Ilian Gospodinov of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology said in an interview with Focus News Agency.

It will be sunny again today, hot in the afternoon, meteorologist Krasimir Stoev of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) told Focus News Agency.

The dust will be most significant on Wednesday.

In the coming days, the low atmospheric layers above the country will be saturated with fine dust from the African deserts, according to a forecast by the University of Athens. The concentration will not be large, in its maximum phase it will reach about 10 micrograms per cubic meter.

More than 3,000 lightening strikes were recorded Greece on August 15, with the biggest frequency detected in central regions of the country during rainstorms, according to the National Observatory of Athens.

The sunny weather in northern Greece will give way to heavy rain, thunderstorms and gale-force winds as of Thursday.

The wind will be moderate from the northwest, in eastern Bulgaria - from the southeast.

Sensible cooling is expected during on Saturday. Bulgaria will fall under the influence of a cold atmospheric front. Summer storms  with heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are expected. There is a risk of hail.

Maximum temperatures predominantly between 30C and 35C, in the far southwestern areas up to 39C. Overnight, some places in western Bulgaria will see brief rain showers with thunder. 

This morning will start with rain for northeast areas, and later in the day also in many areas across the country, meteorologist Boryana Markova of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) told Focus News Agency. Heavier rain expected in eastern Bulgaria. Thunderstorms are also possible.
