Volume of turnover in retail trade increases 7.1pct in first nine months of 2019
The volume of turnover in retail trade (excluding trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles), gross series, increased by 7.1pct in the first nine months of this year, compared to the same period in 2018, due to the advance of sales of non-food products (+8.8pct), retail trade of motor vehicle fuels in specialized stores (+7.3pct) and sales of food, beverages and tobacco (+5.1pct).
Fall sales begin, possibly for the last time
The fall sales started on Friday across Greece and are scheduled to run through November 15.
This could be the last autumn store discount period following complaints by retailers who argue that the spring and fall sales add next to nothing to their annual turnover. In response, the government is considering liberalizing sales and offers regulations.

August retail sales rise 0.8 pct, led by home appliances, supermarkets
Greek retail sales by volume rose 0.8 percent in August compared to the same month last year after a downwardly revised 2.2 prcent decline in July, statistics service ELSTAT said on Thursday.
Retail sales were led higher by supermarkets, home appliances, books and stationery, the data showed.

In October 2019, the total business climate indicator decreases by 1.4 percentage points compared to the previous month as a result of the more unfavourable conjuncture in industry, construction and retail trade. Industry, the National Statistical Institute reported in a press release.
