US embassy holds minute's silence for slain diplomats

The staff of the US Embassy in Athens on Friday observed a minute's silence for members of the US Foreign Service killed by the now defunct Greek domestic terrorist group November 17.

They did so on the occasion of Foreign Affairs Day, an annual commemoration of those who lost their lives serving the US overseas.

Bakoyannis condemns temporary release of N17 terrorist

A decision by prison authorities to grant a fresh two-day furlough to convicted November 17 terrorist Dimitris Koufodinas triggered a reaction from New Democracy lawmaker Dora Bakoyannis, whose husband, Pavlos Bakoyannis, was gunned down by the radical Marxist group outside his downtown Athens office in 1989.

Two suspects of Exarchia riots released on conditions

The two suspects arrested for during the widespread riots around the area of Exarchia near the Athens Polytechnic during celebrations of November 17 were charged with the felony of possession of explosives by the 9th district prosecutor on Tuesday. The two suspects, a German and a Greek national were released after they presented their defence to both the prosecutor and investigator.
