Bulgaria: Heavy Traffic is expected on the Final Day Off with over 700 Police Teams on Duty
On the last of the Easter holidays, heavy traffic is expected in the major Bulgarian cities. After 2 p.m. there will be an increased police presence on the roads. Alcohol and drug tests are also ongoing.
Total of 576,914 cars have left Athens for Easter
A total of 576,914 vehicles left from the Greek capital Athens in the period between April 7 and 14 for the Easter holidays, the Hellenic Police (ELAS) said on Saturday.
According to its announcement, 2,000 police officers and 550 traffic police vehicles have been dispatched across the Attica region to ensure safe travels for holidaymakers and to prevent traffic accidents.

Bulgaria: New, Stricter Measures for Traffic Violators
New, tougher measures for drunk and drugged drivers, as well as those who drive at excessive speed, are already in place in Bulgaria. The changes concern the number of points that are deducted from drivers for violations.
22 died in road accidents in January
Twenty-two people lost their lives and 578 were injured (13 seriously) in 517 road accidents involving cars, motorcycles and pedestrians in January in Attica, according to the Attica Traffic Police Directorate.

Bulgaria: The Court finally set a 140 km/h Maximum Speed Limit on the Highway
The Supreme Administrative Court (SAC) has finally canceled the 20-year-old legally enshrined circumstance, in which the Bulgarian regulatory framework gives different answers to the question of what is the highest speed for driving on a highway. This was reported by news.lex.bg.
Nearly 2,300 people lost their lives in accidents last year
Some 2,282 people lost their lives and 291,151 people were injured in a total of 485,048 traffic accidents that occurred last year across the country, the traffic directorate of the police has announced.
Traffic data: 13 deaths, 603 injuries recorded in December in Attica
A total of 13 people died and another 603 were injured in 511 traffic accidents in December in the Attica, Attica Region traffic police headquarters said on Tuesday.
Of the 603 injured, 13 were severely injured and 590 lightly so.
Road fatalities down significantly last year
A total of 86 people were killed in traffic accidents on Slovenian roads in 2022, which is 28 fewer than in 2021. Still, the number of accidents topped 18,000, which is about 1,100 more than the year before, show data from the General Police Administration.

Downward trend in road accidents in Türkiye
As per the data of the General Directorate of Security, some 313,000 road accidents occurred in the first eight months of this year across Türkiye, where a total of 1.18 million accidents happened in 2021.
According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), some 1.18 million accidents occurred on the country's roads last year, slightly down from 1.2 million accidents in 2018.
