Charity Initiative Bulgarian Christmas Collects Over BGN 2 M

The charity initiative of President Plevneliev Bulgarian Christmas in support of children with severe chronic illnesses continues and over BGN 2 M have been collected until now, announced the press centre of the head of state.

Over BGN 700,000 have been collected via short messages (SMSs) to the number 117 and via voice mails since the beginning of the campaign.

Bulgaria President-elect Refuses Incumbent's Offer on Interim Govt

Bulgarian President-elect Rumen Radev on Wednesday declined the invitation of the sitting head of state, Rosen Plevneliev, to put forward his cabinet lineup before assuming office in January.

In a statement aired by public broadcaster BNT, Radev said his proposal on an interim cabinet can only be made after he takes over on January 22.

The RB, a loose alliance of centrist and right-wing parties, is the junior partner in the outgoing Bulgarian government.

Bulgaria's Deputy PM Urges Parliament to Adopt Anti-Corruption Bill

Outgoing Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Meglena Kuneva has rejected claims from several parties that Parliament should not adopt a disputed anti-corruption bill as it is "running out of time."

Kuneva, who has overseen the work of a team drafting the bill, has tied support of her Bulgarian of Citizens Movement (DBG) party for any new government to the adoption of the bill.

Reformist Bloc To Decide on Mandate To Form Cabinet

The executive council of the Reformist Bloc will meet today in order to decide whether the bloc will take advantage of the mandate to form a government which President Rossen Plevneliev will hand over to the formation at 11:00 hrs.

This is the last chance to form a cabinet within the framework of the current parliament before the appointment of a caretaker government.
