Turkish dance group Fire of Anatolia begins China tour

The world-famous Turkish dance group Fire of Anatolia started its eighth China tour on Dec. 18 with a well-received performance at Shanghai's Oriental Art Center.

The two-hour show - featuring a synthesis of Turkish folk dance with ballet, modern dance and other dance disciplines - earned a period of sustained applause from the Chinese audience.

Whirling Dervishes head to Australia

Turkey's famous Whirling Dervishes are preparing to fly across the globe to perform "down under" to celebrate the centenary of the World War I battle of Gallipoli, marking 100 years of peace between Australia and Turkey.

Former Prime Minister Julia Gillard named 2015 the "Year of Turkey in Australia" in 2012. 

Sufi Muslim exhibition launched in US

A vast collection of antique objects used in Sufi Muslim dervish convents has been launched as an exhibit at the Turkish American Cultural Center in the state of Maryland, near Washington D.C.

The "Dervishes and Their Belongings" exhibition, which runs until Oct.21, will feature 300 historical artifacts used in the daily life of dervish convents.

If you think everybody leaves their town during summer holidays, you are wrong. Me and many people like me enjoy the holiday tranquility of the city. Holidays are not only times to rest and relax but also to nurture and renew.
