President Tayyip Erdogan rejected the resignation on Sunday of Turkey's interior minister, who said he was stepping down in the wake of a short-notice coronavirus lockdown which sent people rushing to shops to stock up on supplies.

Nearly 64 million people spend weekend at home in Turkey’s 48-hour lockdown

The Turkish health ministry on March 29 reported 1,815 new coronavirus cases, marking the country's largest daily increase in infections, and 23 additional deaths.
That raised the total number of known infections in the country to 9,217, while the death toll has reached 131, it said.

Turkey confirms fourth coronavirus death, nearly doubles cases to 359
