Vucic: Obrenovac must be evacuated completely

OBRENOVAC - Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic on Friday visited the Belgrade municipality of Obrenovac, the hardest hit by the floods in Serbia.

"The situation is catastrophic and the entire town will have to be evacuated," Vucic said after inspecting the situation from a boat. Obrenovac was flooded at dawn after embankments caved in.

BELGRADE -- PM Aleksandar Vučić was in the Belgrade municipality of Obrenovac on Friday where he said that the whole flood-stricken town will have to be evacuated.

Obrenovac is currently the most endangered location in Serbia, which has been affected by floods caused by record rainfall this week.

Irinej: SPS to donate RSD 10 million as aid

BELGRADE - The Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) will donate RSD 10 million as aid for the areas worst hit by the floods and establish a special fund for donations to help repair the damage, Bishop of Backa Irinej has said.

The SPC assembly was informed on Friday about the extent of the disaster that has hit Serbia, Republika Srpska and the entire region, he stated.
