RS President Milorad Dodik has thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin and FM Sergei Lavrov for Russia's veto on a British draft on Srebrenica.

The proposed resolution was blocked in the UN Security Council on Wednesday.

The assembly of Bosnia's Serb-dominated entity, Republika Srpska, will hold a special session next week to vote on holding a referendum challenging the authority of Bosnia's High Representative and the state judicial institutions.

The session was requested by the Republika Srpska President, Milorad Dodik, who is launching the initiative for the second time in four years.

Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic should attend the commemoration in Srebrenica and stop supporting President of the Serb Republic (RS) Milorad Dodik.

Milorad Dodik said on Sunday that UN's adoption of a British draft resolution on Srebrenica "would mark the disintegration of Bosnia-Herzegovina."

Milorad Dodik says that "no British resolution on Srebrenica is acceptable, as respects should be paid to all victims in Bosnia-Herzegovina."

"Efforts devoted to reconciliation among peoples" should be made, the president of the Serb entity, the RS, said on Thursday.

Bosnia-Herzegovina Presidency chairman Mladen Ivanic says that country is "not even close to meeting the requirements for joining NATO."

Ivanic, who represents Serbs in the presidency and heads an opposition party in the Serb entity, the RS, told the BHT1 television station that he would not vote in favor of Bosnia-Herzegovina joining NATO, and when asked "why," he replied:

The government of Bosnia's Serb-dominated entity has halted an announced increase in electricity prices at the last moment after coming under fierce pressure from consumers, experts, unions, the opposition and even some members of the ruling parties.

"As a single mother, I was outraged," a resident of the northwestern town of Prijedor told BIRN on Thursday, about the plan.

Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik proposed on Tuesday that a referendum challenging the authority of the state-level judiciary and Bosnia's top international official, the High Representative, should take place at the beginning of September. 

Bosnian Serb and Serbian leaders are using tensions over the UK proposal for a UN resolution on Srebrenica for their own political games, an international diplomat told Balkan Insight on Tuesday.

"This is a highly emotional issue ? and local leaders are again playing with fire," the diplomat said.

A monument to Gavrilo Princip was unveiled on Sunday in Belgrade in the presence of Serbian and RS presidents Tomislav Nikolic and Milorad Dodik.

Princip was a member of the Young Bosnia (Mlada Bosna) movement in the early 20th century, who on Vidovdan (St. Vitus Day, June 28) 1914 in Sarajevo assassinated Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
