Snežnik

A 16th century castle at the foot of the Snežnik forests in the south of the country will provide a backdrop for the annual Floating Castle festival over the next four days, hosting musicians and artists from all over the world.

Ilirska Bistrica – An adult male lynx arrived from the Carpathian Mountains in Romania to the Snežnik plateau on Friday and is adjusting to the new environment in an enclosure. It is the ninth lynx to have arrived from Romania, said partners to the LIFE Lynx project, striving to preserve the Dinaric-Alpine lynx population.

Ljubljana – Snežnik Castle will host Floating Castle, four days of music, dance, theatre and more in what is the largest festival in its nine-year history. A magical outdoor location under Mount Snežnik in south-western Slovenia will come alive with more than 120 musical groups and 400 artists from around the globe from 22 to 25 July.

Stari Trg pri Ložu – The Slovenian acrobatic group Dunking Devils has pulled off another dizzying and breakneck feat. This time, they were jumping from a height of 17 metres onto a huge pile of hay. The backdrop for this “leap of faith” was provided by Snežnik Castle.
