After writing last week that this general election would be something that Turkey would be proud of, I am happily reporting that the outcome may be even better than we expected. And this is a direct effect of the Gezi Park protests that ignited change.

Dr. Aykan Erdemir, a former member of the Turkish parliament from 2011 to 2015, has joined the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) as a non-resident fellow, the foundation announced in a written statement on June 9.

The leader of Macedonia's opposition Social Democrats Zoran Zaev will pay one-day visit to neighbouring Bulgaria on Friday, the party has announced.

The Parliament in Chisinau will discuss on Friday a draft bill granting a status of a 'national-cultural region' to Taraclia, an area in southwestern Moldova with predominantly ethnic Bulgarian population, BGNES reported.

Taraclia is home to more than 30,000 ethnic Bulgarians - the largest ethnic Bulgarian community in Moldova.
