PM Ponta to present governing priorities for 2015-2016 at the PSD National Executive Committee convention

PSD [Social Democratic Party] chairman, Victor Ponta, is going to present the main priorities of the government for 2015-2016, on Friday and Saturday [January 30-31], at the convention of the National Executive Committee of the party. The convention will overlap with the gathering of the Social-Democratic parliamentary groups.

Cyprus gov’t spending to rise only 0.6 pct in 2015

The Cypriot Parliament has adopted a government budget that envisions an increase in spending of only 0.6 percent.

The budget forecasts state revenue of 5.928 billion euros compared with 5.952 billion euros in 2014, with spending of 6.660 billion euros.

The House of Representatives approved the tight spending plan late Tuesday by a vote of 29-26.

Turkish PM refuses to take blame for victimization of Alevis

In an apparent response to salvoes by the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu has strongly refuted any blame for the sufferings of Alevi citizens.

Davutoğlu also again expressed his bewilderment for the Alevi population’s apparent support for the CHP, saying that Alevis have been victimized under CHP-led governments in the past.
