UK economy ekes out growth in first quarter
Britain's economy grew 0.1 percent over the first quarter despite weakening in March, official data revealed Friday, as output continues to be hit by high inflation and strikes.
After narrowly avoiding recession last year, the economy advanced 0.5 percent in January before flattening in February and sliding 0.3 percent in March, the Office for National Statistics said in a statement.

Nearly 70 percent of Americans are Pessimistic about the US Economy
Nearly 69% of Americans are pessimistic about the country's economy, the highest level in 17 years.
The data comes from the latest CNBC economic survey, which shows that nearly 7 out of 10 people have a negative view of the economy. 2/3 of those polled say inflation is outpacing their wages, and the same number (2/3) believe the US will fall into or is already in recession.

Migrant trafficking seen behind clash in central Thessaloniki
A 31-year-old Iraqi man was injured during an altercation between an undisclosed number of foreign nationals at midnight on Wednesday in Antigonidis Square, in downtown Thessaloniki.
Two Syrian nationals were arrested for possessing items such as a wooden bat but no involvement in the incident has been established.

Almost six out of every 10 Greek consumers state that they have been forced to eat into their savings, as the waves of price increases have shrunk their available monthly income.

Economists expect a Recession and High Inflation in the US
The United States is likely to enter a recession this year and face high inflation through 2024, a majority of economists polled in a recent survey predicted.
More than two-thirds of respondents to the National Association for Business Economics (NABE) policy survey forecast that inflation will remain above four percent at the end of this year.

NBS FX reserves highest on record
BELGRADE - Increasing by 282.9 mln euros from a month earlier, National Bank of Serbia (NBS) gross FX reserves reached 21,196.2 mln euros at end-February, their highest end-of-month level since records began in 2000.
