Erdo?an: We instructed governors not to carry out military operations amid PKK dialogue

President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has publicly acknowledged the administration had instructed governors to not carry out military operations targeting outlawed Kurdistan Workers? Party (PKK) militants along the now-stalled resolution process for the Kurdish issue, while suggesting the process could restart when positive momentum is captured.

Isn?t it simple? Washington got (permission to use) ?ncirlik base in Turkey and started to hit Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) targets, and now it is evacuating the families of the personnel that are on duty in Turkey?s critical regions.  

Let me explain how we came to this point, in the light of recent events.

If stability also means predictability in both economy and politics, it is not valid for Turkey at all times.

It would have been very difficult for an observer to predict both the current political scene and the Kurdish issue as a major problem in Turkey six months ago.

A reader of my column has asked: Tayyip Erdo?an used to get votes because the coffins of martyrs were not in the news. Now it is said he will gain votes because the coffins of martyrs are once again in the public eye. How is this so? How come Tayyip Erdo?an gets votes both when the coffins come and when they don't come?

A young man approached me the other day at a bar in the Aegean town of Bodrum and said:
?I was a security officer 15 years ago fighting in the mountains. When we used to lose our friends there, we used to look to those having fun in Bodrum and swear at them. Look at the fate. I am now in Bodrum and having fun and other people are dying in the mountains.?
