The closing off of the Balkan refugee route was a conscious decision by the EU, says Germany
German head of the governmental press & Information agency Steffen Seibert unequivocally stated Wednesday that the goal of the Council of Europe was the sealing off of the Balkan route to limit the refugee flows.
Germany clarifies: Refugee crisis should not be linked to Greek program
The refugee crisis must not be linked to the implementation of the third bailout program in Greece, German government spokesman Steffen Seibert said on Friday, referring to an article published in the financial magazine “WirtschaftsWoche”.
According to the magazine, Germany would relax emphasis on the strict implementation of the Greek program, if Greece accepted more refugees.
Merkel – Draghi to meet Tuesday in Berlin
On Tuesday the German Chancellor Angela Merkel is scheduled to meet with the President of the European Central Bank Mario Draghi.
According to German Chancellor’s representative Steffen Seibert, the meeting will be held in Berlin where issues concerning Eurozone will be discussed.

Merkel upbeat on Greece trip
Chancellor Angela Merkel will meet Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras in Athens on Friday afternoon, her spokesman Steffen Seibert said Friday while also expressing the German leaders admiration for Greek efforts.
