Powerful winds disrupt ferry services
Waves pound Faliro Bay in southern Athens on Friday. Powerful southerly winds of up to 8 and 9 Beaufort disrupted shipping schedules. The Aegean-bound Dionysis Solomos passenger ferry remained docked in Piraeus port yesterday, as were hydrofoils serving the Saronic Gulf.

Rights groups urge Greece to end 'containment policy'
As winter sets in, 12 humanitarian groups have urged Greek authorities to end their "containment policy" and relocate asylum seekers stranded in overcrowded and unsafe island camps to the mainland.
Inspectors target illegal olive oil production and trafficking
The Independent Authority for Public Revenue is launching targeted inspections at olive oil production units in central and southern Greece after data pointed to income hiding and tax evasion in this sector.
Checks will focus on the areas where these phenomena are most common, such as Crete, the Peloponnese (Messinia, Argolida and Laconia) and Fthiotida in central Greece.
State asked to pay for highway delays
Kentriki Odos, the consortium that has undertaken the reconstruction of parts of the Athens-Thessaloniki National Road in Thessaly, is claiming compensation from the state totaling some 40 million euros, Kathimerini understands.
The reason cited is the state's delays in delivering plots of land for the construction of roads linking the highway with the local road network.

Refugee father charged with infant molestation
An Afghan man will appear in court on the eastern Aegean island of Chios on Tuesday on charges of sexually abusing his 11-month-old baby.
According to reports, the man, who lived at the VIAL refugee camp, molested the baby during a visit to the apartment where his wife was staying with the infant.

Afghan boy, 10, found dead off Lesvos in migrant boat
The body of 10-year-old Afghan boy was found in a boat carrying 66 migrants to the eastern Aegean island of Lesvos on Saturday.
The boy, who had set off from Turkey with his parents and two younger brothers, is said to have suffocated as other passengers tried to get on board a Frontex vessel from Bulgaria which located their boat east of Lesvos.
3.5 tremor hits Thessaloniki
A 3.5 magnitude earthquake hit Thessaloniki in Macedonia a little after 9 pm. The epicentre was 30km to the west of the city. According to the Geophysics Institute of the University of Thessaloniki the depth was approximately 6km.

Migrants clash with farmers on Chios; riot breaks out in Lesvos camp
Ten migrants staying at a camp in the former Vial factory on the eastern Aegean island of Chios were being questioned by police on Monday morning following tension with a pair of local famers.
The Greek regions that performed well and bad in tourism
The regions of Greece that performed poorly in key tourism indicators such as revenues, overnight stays and visits included, western Macedonia, Central Greece and the Peloponnese. In contrast, the “winners” of the increase in tourists were the South Aegean, Crete, Attica and Central Macedonia, which achieved notably positive results in all three indicators.
