French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said Oct.5 that air strikes in Syria must target Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants but also other groups "considered as terrorists." 

In a written statement issued on Monday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry claims that a Russian fighter aircraft violated its airspace in the southern district of Yayladagi in the province of Hatay on Saturday.

According to the statement, the Russian aircraft exited Turkish airspace into Syria after it was intercepted by two Turkish F-16s which were conducting patrol in the region.

Russia is engaged in "classic asymmetric warfare" in Syria by using its military clout to prop up President Bashar al-Assad while saying it is attacking Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants, Britain's foreign minister said on Oct.4. 

Russia has informed Turkey that the violation of Turkish airspace near the Syrian border on Oct. 3 was due to a ?navigation error,? according to Russian sources. 

Russian planes have flown 20 sorties in Syria and struck 10 Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) targets in the past 24 hours, the country's defence ministry said in a statement on Oct.4.

British Prime Minister David Cameron said on Oct.4 that Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin's decision to take military action in Syria to support Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was a "terrible mistake". 

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called on Russia to end air strikes in Syria, accusing Moscow of targeting the opposition to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

US President Barack Obama warned Friday that Russia?s military engagement in Syria in support of strongman Bashar al-Assad is a "recipe for disaster," though Washington could still work with Moscow on reducing tensions.
 

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has questioned Russia's motives in its airstrikes in Syria.

Russia continued air strikes for a third day on Oct. 2, prompting Turkey and its partners in the U.S.-led coalition against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) to demand that Moscow cease its attacks on the Syrian opposition and focus on fighting Islamic militants.
