Luxurious living tax up to 13%

A card for all transactions over 70 euros, a special “stay” tax between 3% and 5% to hotels rated with 3 stars and over, and a 3% tax increase on luxurious living are some of the measures to be presented by PM Alexis Tsipras to Thursday’s cabinet meeting, which will also be included in the multi-bill that will be tabled within the next few days.

 

Culture Minister: VAT for books, cut from 9 to 5pct starting next year

The Value Added Tax (VAT) for books will be cut from 9 per cent to 5 per cent, this measure going to come into force on the first day of next year, Culture Minister Ionut Vulpescu announced in a press release on Thursday.

PM Ponta to Competition Council: Please, help us after June 1, when VAT is cut on foodstuffs

Prime Minister Victor Ponta said Thursday that he also counts on the Competition Council for support, within its legal limits, for a correct implementation of the cuts in the Value Added-Tax (VAT) for food as from June 1.

Tax official Dumitru: 50-60pct of VAT cut to translate to prices; inflation to be close to zero at year end

The Value-Added Tax (VAT) cut for foods to 9 per cent as from June 1 will not be fully translated into prices, but only 50-60 per cent of it, which should lead to inflation being close to zero at year end, Chairman of the Fiscal Council Ionut Dumitru said Thursday.
