Turkey calls EU report to suspend accession talks null and void

EU Minister Ömer Çelik said on July 6 that the EU report to suspend accession talks with Turkey was null and void immediately after the European Parliament voted to accept the proposal for the suspension.

Çelik said the decision was not impartial and binding for the country and Ankara would return the report.

Turkey rejects any proposals to drop EU accession talks in favor of cooperation: Minister

EU Minister Ömer Çelik said on July 6 that Ankara rejected any proposals to drop EU accession talks in favor of closer cooperation in other areas.

Speaking to reporters during a visit by EU enlargement commissioner Johannes Hahn, Çelik said it was wrong for EU lawmakers to call for the suspension of Turkey's membership talks. 

Turkey, EU to hold political dialogue meeting in July

Turkey and the European Union are set to hold a political dialogue meeting at the ministerial level on July 25, an EU official has told Hürriyet Daily News. 

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, EU Minister Ömer Çelik, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, and Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn will gather for the meeting in Brussels.
