Turkish man denies terror charge in landmark ISIL case

A Turkish man who is accused of joining the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has told court in a landmark case that he went to Syria not to fight, but "to live in a place governed under Sharia law."

The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office filed a court case in Ankara April 4 against Musa Gökta? for allegedly joining a terrorist group in Syria, according to Anadolu Agency.

Four Russians detained in Turkey near Syria border

Four Russian nationals were detained on April 2 after trying to illegally cross into Syria from southern Turkey, a statement released by Gaziantep's governorship said.
      
Officials added that the detainees have been sent to the foreigners' office, a branch of the Turkish police, for deportation.
      

Turkish soldiers detain 5 Dutch citizens as ISIL raises flag near border

Five Dutch citizens have been detained while trying to cross from Turkey to Syria illegally, the Turkish army announced in a statement on March 29.

According to the General Staff statement, a total of 97 foreigners, 92 of them Syrian citizens, tried to cross into Syria on March 28.
