Google's annual recap of 2021's top trending searches in Turkey has shown the most googled word this year was "EBA giriş" (EBA log in), to get access to the website of the state-run Education Information Network (EBA) channel which was set up for students who had to continue education online due to the pandemic.

Germany’s new agriculture minister visits presidential palace on bike

Cem Özdemir, Germany's new food and agriculture minister of Turkish origin, visited the presidential palace to receive his certificate of appointment on a bicycle, while other ministers arrived in black cars.

Özdemir, from the Green Party, is the first Turkish descent politician to assume a federal minister post.

Germany honors Turkish scientists developing vaccine

Germany's president conferred Turkish scientists ur Uğur Şahin and Özlem Türeci with the country's highest award on Friday for inventing the world's first effective vaccine against COVID-19.

Frank-Walter Steinmeier presented the Order of Merit to Şahin and Türeci at a ceremony held at the Bellevue Palace, which was also attended by Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Talks to open cancer research center with BioNtech’s co-founder ‘continuing’

Turkish-German scientist Uğur Şahin, who developed the Pfizer-BioNtech coronavirus vaccine together with his wife Dr. Özlem Türeci, will likely invest in Turkey to establish a medical research center, according to Mustafa Varank, Turkey's industry and technology minister.

Turkey, BioNTech reach deal on COVID-19 vaccine

Turkey's health minister said his country and German company BioNTech struck a deal early on Dec. 25, and that initially, 550,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine would be sent to the country by the end of the year or early 2021 at the latest.

According to Fahrettin Koca, 4.5 million doses of the vaccine will be sent to Turkey by the end of March 2021 under the agreement.
