U.K.-based Turkish tour operators have raised concerns over British global travel group Thomas Cook's collapse and are seeking urgent help from the Turkish government to avoid losing their market share.

U.K.-based global travel group Thomas Cook's Belgium and Netherlands subsidiaries on Sept. 30 announced their bankruptcy. 

The economic losses for Greek businesses in the tourism industry from the collapse of British travel firm Thomas Cook are estimated between 250 to 500 million euros, the country's tourism confederation SETE said on Monday night.

The Greek government is set to announce measures to support the local tourism industry, which has been dealt a major blow by the collapse late on Sunday of British tour company Thomas Cook.

Leading British tour operator Thomas Cook announced this week that it has acquired two new properties in Greece, which will take its total number of hotel units in this country to four.
The operator has bought out Casa Cook Kos, a 100-room unit that it has been operating on the Dodecanese island and which has been the most profitable unit bearing the company's name.

Tour operator Thomas Cook has said there is a continued recovery for bookings to Turkey and the resurgence in Turkey had not been affected by increased tensions with Germany. 

Britain's Thomas Cook said a visible recovery continues in bookings for Turkey and Egypt, although it echoed concerns raised by rival tour operator TUI over the market for travel by British tourists on May 18, saying that competition at home had slowed growth, Reuters has reported. 

Thomas Cook is to open a Casa Cook hotel on the Greek island of Kos next summer.
It will be the second Casa Cook branded property and follows the success of Casa Cook Rhodes, which opened in May this year.
The 100-room Casa Cook Kos opens in July 2017 in the seaside town of Marmari.

British travel company Thomas Cook stuck to its annual profit guidance on Sept. 27, after strong demand for summer holidays to destinations other than Turkey helped offset pressure on the group.

British holiday company Thomas Cook said customers were delaying booking holidays, uncertain of making plans as they see previously popular destinations such as Turkey as less safe.
