4.7 Magnitude Earthquake on the Richter Scale Was Registered in Greece

4.7 magnitude earthquake on the Richter Scale was registered in northern Greece.

Athens' Geodynamics Institute reports that the tremor struck at 6:08 p.m. (1508 GMT) Saturday about 30 kilometres  northwest of the city of Agrinio at a depth of 28 kilometres.

There is no information for serious damages and injured people.

Strong tremor shakes western Greece

A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 has struck in western Greece, Athens' Geodynamics Institute reports.

The tremor struck at 6.08 pm local time (1508 GMT) about 30 kilometers (19 miles) northwest of the city of Agrinio at a depth of 28 km (17 miles).

No damage has been reported so far.

Prominent Greek sculptor dies at age 87

Greek sculptor Theodoros Papadimitriou, who signed his work with his first name, died in Athens on Friday at the age of 87.

Theodoros is best known to the general public for his sculpture "Metro Clock," which graces the main concourse of the Syntagma metro station in central Athens, but also a stainless steel and bronze piece he did for the Athens Exchange called "Rising Index."

The customers of a local fishmonger in the city of Agrinio in central Greece could not believe their eyes when they saw a huge shark hanging on a hook outside the shop. Fishermen from Agrinio made the amazing catch some days ago in the Ionian Sea near the island of Kefalonia. The shark, which weighed 300kg was caught in the nets of the fishermen at depth of 500 metres.

Four Greek school pupils preparing for European bridge showdown

The newly established national youth bridge team is counting down the days until July 8, when the European Youth Bridge Team Championships start in Slovakia. Between classes, homework and tutorials, the team has been making the time to practice over Skype, to be ready for the big showdown.
