Sasa Jankovic, head of the opposition Free Citizens movement and a runner in the April 2 presidential elections, called on citizens, NGOs, political parties and unions to join a protest in Belgrade on Friday on "the right of citizens to fair and free elections".

BELGRADE - The Serbian government has given guarantees for Ratko Mladic's provisional release from detention at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) for medical treatment.

A letter containing the state guarantees has been sent to Mladic's defence, which will submit it to the ICTY, the Serbian Ministry of Justice told Tanjug Monday.

BELGRADE - The president and the government of Serbia will send a letter to the European Commission (EC) over its position that Catalonia and Kosovo are not comparable cases, Serbian PM Ana Brnabic told reporters after consultations of top state officials with President Aleksandar Vucic on Monday.

The head of the Serbian "Dveri" parliamentary group, Bashko Obradovic, described as a "diplomatic scandal" the participation of President Aleksandar Vucic at the meeting in Varna two days ago, reports Bgnes.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic's visit to Zagreb has been postponed, his cabinet confirmed on Wednesday.

According to previous announcements, the visit should have taken place in November at the latest.

"The president will not go to Zagreb that soon," the daily Blic was told by his cabinet.

A Croatian official told the trial of former Serbian security chiefs Jovica Stanisic and Franko Simatovic that Zagreb is still searching for people who disappeared as a result of Serb forces’ attacks in 1991.

BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will on Monday meet with Greek counterpart Prokopios Pavlopoulos, who will be on an official visit to Serbia.

The Australian authorities are seeking a way to cancel the passport of the Serbia-born 1990s paramilitary commander Dragan Vasiljkovic after he was convicted of war crimes by a Croatian court.
