ROMANIANS AT MONGOL RALLY Sibiu City travelled by 300 teams in the world's largest charity rally

More than 300 teams from all over Europe, mostly British, stopped over at least for one night in Sibiu City, central Romania, a mandatory place on the map of the world's largest charity rally, the Mongol Rally, where Romania is represented by two teams - Dracula Khan and Mamaliga (Polenta) Warriors, says Vlad Grigore, one of the Romanians that took part in the rally in 2013.

'Some of the teams have passed by Sibiu City and they are already traversing the Transfagarasan. When we were thinking about embarking on the Mongol Rally, we were picturing ourselves getting to know other countries, their most interesting, most beautiful places we must see. As we were doing the research, we realised that we could help the other Mongol Rally teams, recommend them the places they could visit while in Romania. We were thinking that since teams from all over Europe will be travelling Romania one of the cities that should not miss for its beauty and atmosphere is Sibiu City,' explains Grigore.

He recommended Sibiu City as a very important stopover on the map of the world's largest charity rally because it is the first city in Romania to have been a European capital of culture and also the only one in Romania to have the Transfagarasan and Transalpina, two of the most spectacular motorways in the country.

'At the same time, Sibiu is either at the beginning or the end of Transfagarasan or Transalpina, both of which are splendid trails that can be started in Sibiu. Before leaving for Transfagarasan or Transalpina, people should sleep a night in Sibiu so that they may join in the fun with the other teams and with locals,' says Grigore.
