UNICEF Romania and the Chamber of Deputies organized the second edition of the UNICEF gala Thursday evening at the Parliament Palace, an event that marks the International Day of Children's Rights with the aim of raising funds for vulnerable children.

The event gathered together the UNICEF ambassadors for Romania, representatives of the Government and Parliament of Romania, of the diplomatic and business milieus, public figures and journalists.

Minister of National Education, Remus Pricopie said on this occasion that the Ministry of National Education has been working for many years with UNICEF. "We have many projects underway, for example today's theme is related to violence against children, which can happen in the family, but it can also happen on the street, or violence through public messages, even media messages. We should focus all our attention on this topic, because often, many forms of violence are not seen," Pricopie said.

UNICEF representative in Romania Sandie Blanchet also talked about the importance of the event, saying that despite the progress made in this field in Romania, there are still 64,000 institutionalized children and over 11,000 cases of violence against children.

The UNICEF Gala, which was hosted by Andreea Marin, included a violin recital performed by Maxim Vengerov, UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, accompanied on piano by Roustem Saitkoulov and an auction of dolls presented by Smiley and Pavel Bartos.AGERPRES
