Cycling: Romanian Tvetcov wins intermediate sprint of 5th stage of Giro d'Italia

Romanian Serghei Tvetcov (Team Androni) won the intermediate sprint of Barga, at km 98 of the fifth stage of the Giro d'Italia; he and Eduard Grosu (Nippo - Vini Fantini) are the first Romanians to participate in this cycling competition.

Tvetcov evaded the peloton alongside French racers Silvain Chavanel (IAM) and Axel Domont (AG2R La Mondiale), Swiss Silvain Dillier (BMC) and Slovene Jan Polanc (Lampre); the five were over 11 minutes ahead at km 100 of the 152 of this stage ending on the Abetone Peak.

The 26-year-old thus became the first Romanian ever mentioned in an official release of a cycling grand tour. AGERPRES
