R.I.P. B. B. King… the King of the Blues is gone…

B. B. King died in Las Vegas, aged 89 years. The one-time farmhand who became ‘King of the Blues’ sold millions of records worldwide with inductions into the Blues Foundation Hall of fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The man who called his Gibson Guitar Lucille was a mentor to the likes of Eric Clapton and churned out hits such as “The Thrill is Gone”. He was awarded his 15th Grammy in 2009 in the traditional blues album category for “One Kind Favor.”

His attorney, Brent Bryson, told The Associated Press that King died peacefully in his sleep at 9.40 p.m. local time on Thursday, May 14.
