After Moria clashes, hot spot director speaks of difficulties

Fifteen people were injured in clashes between groups of migrants at the Moria camp on Lesvos, seen in this recent photo, on Tuesday night. Despite the transfer of hundreds of migrants to the mainland in recent weeks, the overcrowded hot spot still houses some 5,400 people. "The conditions for all the people working here are very difficult," Yiannis Balbakakis, director at the Moria camp, told Kathimerini. "People leave for the mainland every day, but at the same time new people arrive." He said he was surprised the clashes happened while efforts are being made to reduce overcrowding. [Reuters]
