Police seize 320 kilos of cocaine in Piraeus container, man arrested

Greek anti-drugs authorities have seized at least 320 kilos of cocaine from inside a container at the port of Piraeus and arrested one suspect in connection with the shipment.

The drugs were found on Wednesday hidden in containers of frozen shrimps that arrived from South America, while the destination was Albania. Authorities believe the drugs would then be channeled to Central and Northern Europe.

Police arrested an Albanian national who had an outstanding arrest warrant for his involvement in another drug raid in 2017, when he was accused of participating in a gang that manufactured Captagon pills in a hidden laboratory in Nea Peramos, west Attica.
