Teen boxing champion dies from head injury

A teenage European boxing champion, Vasilis Topalos, died on Monday after suffering a head injury on December 12 at the gym where he trained, in the Athens suburb of Tavros. The 16-year-old Greek athlete underwent surgery and was in critical condition in intensive care.

Health minister, manufacturers meet to review drugs shortages

The Greek agency for pharmaceuticals (EOF), wholesalers, pharmacies and others met on Monday with Health Minister Thanos Plevris to review the issue of lack of drug availability in the Greek market.

While all cited global issues in medicine shortages, they also said the issue was not as severe as in other countries since Greece has its own production of pharmaceuticals as well.

Police arrest two for drugs, counterfeit cash

Police officers arrested a 24-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman in the central Athens neighborhood of Pagrati on Friday night on charges of drug possession, moving counterfeit currency, and weapon possession.
