Third gold for Garnbret at European Championships
Munich – Janja Garnbret won gold in the new boulder & lead event on Wednesday, her third consecutive gold medal at the European Championships in Munich. Another Slovenian, Mia Krampl, finished in second place.
Garnbret left nothing to chance as she dominated both the boulder and the lead events: there were 200 points available in both events and she took home 199.9 points.

Tina Šutej wins bronze at European Athletics Championships
Munich – Slovenia’s Tina Šutej won bronze in the pole vault at the European Athletics Championships on Wednesday, finishing with a height of 4.75 metres, close to her personal best of 4.76 metres in outdoor competitions.
The 33-year-old cleared all heights in the first try up until the 4.70 mark and then mustered 4.75 metres in the first attempt as well.

Kenyan-born Turkish athlete Yasemin Can won her second European 10,000m title in Munich on Aug. 15 night as a trio of world-class heavyweights guaranteed their spots in respective finals.
Fresh from sealing the Commonwealth title, Britain's Eilish McColgan forced the pace in the 25-lap race, but Can hit the front with just under 3 kilometers to go.

European Athletics Championships: Gold medal for Greece’s Antigoni Drisbioti in the 35 km walk
After a stunning performance, Antigoni Drisbioti was crowned European Champion in the 35 km race walking event, with the 38-year-old champion giving Greece its first gold medal in the event.
The Greek champion finished in 2 hours 46 minutes and 58 seconds.
Drisbioti led the race early on and comfortably took first place.

Munich – Luka Potočar has won silver in the men’s lead discipline to clinch the third medal for Slovenian sport climbers at the European Championships in Munich after Janja Garnbret won the championship in the women’s competition in both lead and bouldering.

Munich – Slovenia’s best climber Janja Garnbret was crowned the European champion in lead in Munich on Saturday, her second European champion title after winning one in combined in 2017. Garnbret is aiming for two more gold medals at the European Championships in Germany, in combined and bouldering.

Siemens posts loss as energy spin-off struggles
German industrial conglomerate Siemens said yesterday it had made a significant net loss as it counted the cost of struggles at its former energy unit.
Between April and June, Siemens recorded a net loss of 1.5 billion euros ($1.5 billion), after a mirror 1.5-billion-euro profit in the same period last year.

The Rolling Stones wrapped up their 60th-anniversary tour on Aug. 3 in Germany with an emotional tribute to late drummer Charlie Watts.
The legendary British band had opened their European tour with a gig in Madrid on June 1 to mark six decades since they were formed.
