MPs unanimously adopt changes redefining sexual violence
Ljubljana – The National Assembly passed in a unanimous vote on Friday amendments to the penal code that redefine sexual consent in line with the concept that only yes means yes. MPs said during the debate that the credit should go to NGOs, which mobilised the public to create a genuine social movement.
Mass anti-government protest calls for early election
Ljubljana – Thousands of protesters took to the streets of Ljubljana on Friday protesting against the government’s actions and calling for an early election. The rally included various groups and movements and was supported by trade unions and part of the opposition. PM Janez Janša said spreading Covid-19 with unregistered mass rallies was a crime.
Israel continues attacks on Gaza
Two more Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip taking the death toll from the offensive to 221, the Palestinian Health Ministry said May 19.
The fatalities include 63 children and 36 women.
Two more Palestinians were injured taking the total number of casualties to 1,507.

The health of jailed Puitn's critic Alexei Navalny is deteriorating and he is beginning to lose sensation in his legs and hands, his lawyer says.
Vadim Kobzev said Navalny, who is in a penal colony serving a sentence for embezzlement, had been diagnosed with two spinal hernias.
Last week, Navalny started a hunger strike to demand proper treatment for acute back and leg pain.
Migrants, public assembly highlighted in Amnesty report
Ljubljana – Amnesty International says in its latest human rights report that Slovenia denied asylum-seekers access to asylum in 2020, while forcibly returning migrants to Croatia. The country is criticised for limiting freedom of assembly during the pandemic, handling Covid infections at care homes inadequately, and failing to resolve Roma issues.
