Most U.S. corporate bosses have stayed silent on U.S. President Donald Trump's immigration curbs, underscoring the sensitivities around opposing policies that could provoke a backlash from the White House.

Apple Inc has removed the New York Times Co's news apps from its app store in China following a request from the Chinese authorities, the companies said separately on Jan. 5.

Apple removed both the English-language and Chinese-language apps from the iTunes store in China on Dec. 23, 2016, according to the New York Times, which first reported the action. 

The U.S. Justice Department on April 22 dropped its effort to force Apple Inc to help unlock an iPhone in a drug case in New York after someone provided authorities the passcode to access the device.

Israel's Cellebrite, a provider of mobile forensic software, is helping the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation's attempt to unlock an iPhone used by one of the San Bernardino, California shooters, the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported on March 23.

Apple Inc Chief Executive Tim Cook said his company opposed a demand from a U.S. judge to help the FBI break into an iPhone recovered from one of the San Bernardino shooters.

Cook said that the demand threatened the security of Apple's customers and had "implications far beyond the legal case at hand." 

Alphabet Inc easily beat Wall Street's quarterly profit forecasts on Feb. 1, helped by strong mobile advertising sales, sending the shares of Google's parent higher in after-hours trading to surpass Apple Inc as the most valuable U.S. company.

Apple Inc on Aug. 27 invited journalists to a Sept. 9 event, where it is expected to unveil new iPhones and potentially a new version of its Apple TV set-top box.

The email invitation includes a colorful Apple logo with the sentence "Hey Siri, give us a hint," referring to Apple's popular digital voice assistant. 

PayPal Holdings Inc shares jumped as much as 11 percent in their highly anticipated return to the Nasdaq after more than a decade in eBay Inc's fold on July 20, valuing the digital payment processor at about $52 billion.

The Apple Watch goes on sale around the world on April 24, the final stage of a protracted launch of Apple Inc Chief Executive Tim Cook's first new product, capping months of publicity and a frenetic two weeks of pre-orders.

Cook has never previously publicly acknowledged his sexual orientation.

"Let me be clear: I'm proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me," he wrote in the article.
