Transport workers in Sofia are gearing up for a protest on Thursday, January 18, organized by the Federation of Transport Trade Unions of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB). The rally aims to address various demands, primarily focusing on a 30% wage hike for public transport employees, improved working conditions, and measures to retain and recruit staff.

Hundreds of people took to the streets of Sarajevo on Friday, demanding that that children be better protected at the care home for children with special needs in the village of Pazaric near the Bosnian capital, and calling for the alleged abusers to be prosecuted.

A key opposition party, Union for better future, SBB, will fully support the government of Bosnia's Federation entity and its reform agenda, party leader and media mogul Fahrudin Radoncic said.

Five months on from the October general elections, the three main parties in Bosnia's Federation entity agreed on the formation of a new government.

Members of the People's Party Work for Progress in Bosnia have criticised the detention earlier this week of their party's two leaders, saying they suspect political influences were at work.
