European shares dip as virus fears intensify
European shares fell for the second straight session on Monday, as fears about the economic hit from the coronavirus pandemic intensified with several nations extending near-total lockdowns to curtail the spread of the flu-like disease.
The pan-European STOXX 600 index was down 0.8 per cent at 07.14 GMT, with energy, industrials and travel and leisure stocks leading declines.

Alpha reports slight rise in Q4 profit
Alpha Bank reported slightly higher net profit in the fourth quarter last year on the back on lower provisions for bad loans and better net interest income, Greece's fourth-largest lender by assets said on Friday.

Greek private sector bank deposits rise in February
Greek private sector bank deposits rose in February after a drop in the previous month, central bank data showed on Thursday.
Business and household deposits increased to 142.24 billion euros ($155.62 billion) from 141.15 billion in January, Bank of Greece data showed.
Cyprus announces lockdown on coronavirus until April 13
Cyprus on Monday announced a lockdown on the island until April 13 to fight of the spread of coronavirus, saying the movement of people was banned until then unless absolutely necessary.

Greek current account deficit widens in January
Greece's current account deficit widened in January compared with the same month a year earlier, the Bank of Greece said on Friday.
Central bank data showed the deficit was 1.29 billion euros ($1.39 billion) from a deficit of 1.18 billion euros in January 2019.

Turkey shuts Greece, Bulgaria land borders to passengers, reports TRT Haber
Turkey's land borders with Greece and Bulgaria have been closed to entry and exit of passengers as a measure against the coronavirus outbreak, state broadcaster TRT Haber said on Wednesday.
A TRT reporter said the gates were still open for logistics.
Cyprus bans flights from 28 countries from March 21
Cyprus on Tuesday announced a two-week ban on flights from 28 countries, including Britain and Greece, to curb the coronavirus outbreak.
The measure will come into effect from 0100 GMT on March 21 for a 14-day period, an official statement said. It does not affect cargo flights.
EU agrees to close external borders, but fast tracks for goods
European Union leaders agreed on Tuesday to close Europe's borders for 30 days to prevent the spread of coronavirus but establish fast-track lanes at their countries' frontiers to keep goods moving, bloc leaders said after a video-conference summit.
