SNS Head Committee unanimously backs Vucic's candidacy

BELGRADE - The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) Head Committee on Friday unanimously decided to name partly leader Aleksandar Vucic a candidate in the upcoming presidential elections.

Initially, the Head Committee met behind closed doors, but the session was opened to the public when Vucic arrived, greeted by a long round of applause from SNS officials.

Vrsac overrun by Red Star in Korac Cup quarter-finals

NIS - Red Star Belgrade comprehensively defeated Vrsac 99-47 (30-7, 27-10, 24-15, 18-15) in Nis Thursday to advance to the basketball Korac Cup semi-finals.

In a bid to reach the final of the national cup, head coach Dejan Radonjic's men will face FMP Zeleznik, who beat Spartak Subotica 77-58 earlier in the day.

Nikolic to run for president - Sputnik, N1

BELGRADE - Serbia's incumbent President Tomislav Nikolic has decided to run in the upcoming presidential elections, Sputnik and N1 reported late Wednesday, quoting unnamed sources.

The reports said NIkolic had made the decision at Wednesday's celebration of Serbia's Statehood Day and his 65th birthday.
