Turkish hoteliers accelerate promotional activities in new markets

Turkish hoteliers have sped up promotional activities in new markets in a bid to recover their expected losses in key markets, mainly European and Russian markets. 

The Hotel Association of Turkey (TÜROB) said the association recently attended tourism fairs to diversify their markets in places like Latin America, South Africa and Azerbaijan, in a written statement on April 18. 

Turkish president to visit Baku, Zagreb next week

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an is set to pay visits to Baku and Zagreb, first attending a global forum meeting of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) in the capital of neighboring Azerbaijan.

While in Croatia, Erdo?an will be accompanied by a large business delegation and attend a meeting of the Turkey-Croatia Business Forum. 

Major oil producers mull freeze o output in key Doha meeting

Major oil producers gathered in Qatar yesteray for crucial talks on capping production to boost prices, despite Iran's refusal to take part.

Top energy officials from some 15 countries including Saudi Arabia and Russia were at the Doha talks, amid reports a draft agreement was in the works to freeze output at January levels until at least October.

Islamic group to address Nagorno-Karabakh dispute

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is to establish a working group in an effort to settle the long-running conflict over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavu?o?lu said April 12.

The OIC will be more decisive on the occupied Karabakh topic, Çavu?o?lu told journalists after a meeting of OIC foreign ministers in Istanbul.        

Armenia, Azerbaijan trade accusations during cease-fire

Armenia and Azerbaijan on April 9 traded accusations over the shelling of each other's territory in violation of a days-old cease-fire aimed at halting a flareup of violence over the disputed Nagorno Karabakh region.

The two former-Soviet neighbors exchanged fire overnight but there were no reports of casualties.

Nagorno-Karabakh: Russian PM Says 'Turkish Factor' Might Be Involved

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has suggested that "a Turkish factor" might also be involved in the recent renewal of clashes in Nagorno-Karabakh, a region controlled by ethnic Armenian separatists and surrounded by Azerbaijan.

In an interview with Rossiya 24 TV station on Saturday, quoted by RIA Novosti, Medvedev assumed that violence could possibly be fuelled from "abroad".
