Company openings in the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry came to three times more than closures in 2022, official figures showed this week.

Ioannis Bratakos was sworn in, on Friday, in the presence of the President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister and officially assumed office.

Moving in the right direction is the increase of the minimum wage, as it strengthens the income of the low paid and at the same time can "breathe life" in to the market, as noted in a statement by the president of the Athens Chamber of Commerce, Giannis Chatzitheodosiou.

"Athens is Back" is an initiative of the City of Athens, in partnership with the Athens Traders Association and implemented by the Athens Development and Destination Management Agency, aiming to support businesses operating in Athens.

The Chamber said these businesses will open first as it is believed that it is easier to enforce the health protocols.
