Wildfire claims life of shepherd in Viotia
A man died on Monday during a wildfire that broke out in Prodromos, located in Viotia to the northwest of the capital, earlier in the morning.
According to the police, the victim was an 80-year-old shepherd who hurried to rescue his sheep upon receiving an evacuation message for the village.

Updated vaccines for Omicron coming in fall
Updated vaccines targeting the Omicron subvariant of the coronavirus are expected in the United States in late September and in Greece by mid-fall, Theodora Psaltopoulou, a professor of epidemiology at the University of Athens, told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (AMNA).

Watchdog plans to discuss ANEK-Attica merger next week
The Competition Commission is to convene on Wednesday, July 12, to discuss the absorption of ANEK Lines by Attica Group. Its recommendation, which is not binding, is to give an initial green light for the merger.
EastMed market test by end-2023
The market test for the EastMed pipeline - the project to transport natural gas from East Mediterranean gas fields to Italy and Central Europe through Greece - is expected to take place by the end of 2023, officials of owner IGI Poseidon told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency.
IGI Poseidon belongs in equal shares (50%-50%) to Greece's DEPA International Projects and Italy's Edison.

A prominent Greek diver and researcher announced on Wednesday he had discovered the lost British submarine HMS Triumph, whose true fate had been shrouded in mystery ever since the vessel and its entire crew disappeared in 1942.
ND’s Mitsotakis back on the road, as party leaders tread the campaign trail
New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis resumed his pre-election campaign tour on Tuesday, after testing negative for Covid. Mitsotakis posted a photo on his personal Instagram account with the negative test result, calling it "The good news of the day."
He had tested positive for the virus on Friday and had to cancel several events, including a planned trip to Mount Athos.
