Turkey aims to bring all forest fires under control soon: Minister
Battling wildfires for over a week, Turkey said on Aug. 5 that it aims to bring all of them under control on Friday.

"We managed to prevent the blazes from advancing further despite strong winds today," said Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu. "We aim to bring them totally under control tomorrow."
Two earthquakes strike off coast of southwestern Turkey
Two separate earthquakes struck off Turkey's southwestern coast early on Aug. 3, according to the country's disaster agency.

The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said the first quake, with a magnitude of 4.3, was recorded off the coast of the town of Datça in Muğla province at 2 a.m. local time (0000GMT).
Magnitude 5.5 quake jolts southwestern Turkey
A magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck off Turkey's southwestern coast early on Aug. 1, the country's disaster authority announced.

The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said the quake struck off Datça town of Muğla province at 7.31 a.m. local time (0431GMT).
It occurred at a depth of 14.85 kilometers (9.2 miles) below the surface, it added.

A magnitude-5.2 earthquake struck Turkey's eastern province of Bingöl on June 25, according to the country's disaster agency.
The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said the quake struck the Kiğı district at 9.28 p.m. local time (1828GMT).
It occurred at a depth of 15.51 kilometers (9.63 miles) below the surface, it said.

Magnitude 5.3 quake rattles southwestern Turkey
A magnitude-5.3 earthquake struck Turkey's southwestern province of Muğla, the country's disaster agency said early on June 22.
The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said the quake struck 11.4 kilometers (7.08 miles) below the surface of the Aegean Sea, 40 kilometers (24.8 miles) off the coast of Datca district.
