A proposal will soon be presented to the Education Ministry for programming classes to be entered into the elementary school curriculum, Science, Industry and Technology Minister Fikri I??k has said.

The Education Ministry added its voice on Wednesday to those expressing concern about plans to hold the trial of Golden Dawn?s MPs and members at a special court inside Korydallos Prison.

Under the motto "Stop the Bad Reforms in Education", high school pupils in Macedonia marched from the city park in Skopje to the front of the Education Ministry in the city centre, demanding that that government scrap graduation exams.

Following in the footsteps of their older colleagues in universities who successfully rebelled against government plans for state-run "external" tests, high school pupils in Macedonia, united in a movement called "High School Plenum", announced their own protest in Thursday in Skopje.

Protesting teachers pour water on education minister

BELGRADE -- Education employees have gathered in front of the Education Ministry in protest over their "material position, and the state of the education sector."

Their representatives were on Tuesday holding a meeting with Education Minister Srdjan Verbic that ended with no agreement.

The World Bank's Managing Board approved, on Monday, a loan of 200 million euros for the project ROSE (Romania Secondary Education Project) aimed at increasing the chances for undergraduate students to finish higher education, which will be implemented by the Education Ministry for a period of seven years, a World Bank release informs.

The Education Ministry has ordered for the recall of a book distributed to elementary school students after a debate was stirred over its content that included insulting remarks against women.

The book "Flower Garden" was handed out to fourth grade students in a school in Istanbul's Esenler district as a part of a project called "One Book, One World."

Istanbul is boosting state income by bringing in nearly half of all tax revenues collected by the Treasury, according to figures released by the Finance Ministry.

Istanbul single-handedly contributed a sweeping 46.07 percent of the entire state budget with 185 billion Turkish Liras ($71 billion at the current exchange rate) in 2014.

The Education Ministry issued a statement on Saturday denying that it aims to scrap the hiring process for secondary education teachers via the Supreme Council for Civil Personnel Selection (ASEP).
